Memo to : The University Community

>From : Arch. Michael M. Canlas
                                  Director

Subject : Water Conservation

In view of limited water supply forecast and rapid decline of the water
level at La Mesa Dam, we would like to seek everyone’s utmost cooperation
to help conserve water through the following measures:

1. Closer monitoring of plumbing and water supply systems on leaks,
defects, and systems efficiency and apply all necessary repairs /
replacement immediately. These include pumps, potable water cisterns, and
overhead tanks that are part of the plumbing, fire protection, dual piping,
rainwater harvesting, and water detention systems.

2. Monitoring of regular water consumption to assess if there are any
unidentified losses that need to be evaluated and require immediate repairs.

3. Apply conservation measures such as placing of signs and reminders
to areas where use of water is frequent (washroom, kitchen, pantry, etc.)
to encourage everyone’s full cooperation in the conservation of water.

4. Avail of other natural sources and recycled water for watering of
plants, cleaning of pavements and grounds, etc. e.g DEWATS, BWATS systems.

5. Recycle and re-use water if and when possible.

The University recognizes the need to conserve our water resources
especially during these critical times when we are experiencing the effects
of the El Niño and when there is scarcity of water supply through
sustainability programs to reduce water consumption.

For your necessary updates, the CFMO team is in close coordination with the
Manila Water Company, Inc. on the latest developments on water supply as
well as on the monitoring of the campus facilities, grounds, plumbing systems.
Please do not hesitate to coordinate with our office or through the
Technical Heads assigned to your units should you need any assistance
especially on the following areas:

1. Water supply pipelines (main, branches, connections, taps etc.)

2. Cisterns

3. Overhead tanks

4. Pumps

Thank you and we hope for everyone’s utmost cooperation and commitment
towards this common goal and in making our campus more sustainable.
