The supercycle in commodity markets in the early 21st century opened a
discussion about the possibility of resource conflicts. The scarcity of
natural resources was seen as a key threat for the global peace. But the
slowdown of the global economy and growing supply have reduced this threat.
This lecture concentrates on the relations in energy sector between three
powers: EU, China and USA. I will argue that the energy revolution in the
USA has a substantial impact on the reduction of the threat of a resource
conflict. Growth of supply diminishes tensions related to access to energy
assets. The energy revolution in the USA plays an important role in
supporting peace. Popularization of renewables are important area of
potential cooperation between three powers.
