Last 23 and 24 February, the Ateneo Biological Organization - *eXplore.
eXperience. eXcel. *(BOx) and the Department of Biology hosted the
Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) 2019: SISID. A total of 368 students from
97 high schools all over the country participated in the PBO, which is in
its second year. Consisting of the theoretical Quiz Bee and the practical
Lab Skills, the PBO selects the official delegates of the Philippines to
the International Biology Olympiad, the premier international competition
in biology for high school students. Last year, the first ever Philippine
delegation to the IBO took home a silver medal, a bronze medal, and a merit
citation.

This year, the four official student delegates of the Philippines are:

Jeremy Ace F. Ng (Saint Jude Catholic School)
Elizabeth Rae S. Peralta (Philippine Science High School-Ilocos Region
Campus)
Samuel Drury T. Wood (Regional Science High School III)
Matthew Keizo S. Yuda (Manila Science High School)

This is Keizo Yuda's second year as a delegate of the country, while the
other three are first-timers. They will be representing the Philippines in
the 30th IBO to be held in Szeged, Hungary from 14 to 21 July 2019.

The Department of Biology and Ateneo BOx are recognized by the Department
of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) as the
official organizers of the Philippine Biology Olympiad.
