The Ateneo Art Gallery celebrates the National Arts Month with the launch
of *Domènec. Not Here, Not Anywhere*, a touring exhibition by Catalan
artist, Domènec, organized in partnership with the Museu d'Art Contemporani
de Barcelona (MACBA) and with the assistance of the Embassy of Spain to the
*Domènec. Not Here, Not Anywhere* was first shown in MACBA last April 2018.
Curated by Teresa Grandas, the Manila iteration presents more than ten (10)
works from the MACBA exhibition which offers an overview of Domènec’s
artistic practice since the 1990s. It also includes two new works that he
had developed after his 10-day visit to Manila last July 2018.
In *Not Here, Not Anywhere*, Domènec uses modernist architecture and city
planning as starting points to tease out issues related to the politics of
urban development and its social impact on its stakeholders. Largely based
on anthropological research and narratives from different local contexts,
he makes use of photography, videos, archives, and installations to start a
dialogue on how these projects have failed to address basic social and

Gallery and Museu D’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, the Embassy of Spain to
the Philippines, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, and Aretè, with support
from Alta Fairs & Exhibit as the official handler, and Weekend Craft Ales.

Fredesvinda Almeda Consunji Gallery, Ambeth R Ocampo Gallery, Elizabeth
Gokongwei Gallery, and Alicia P Lorenzo Gallery located at the third floor
of Ateneo Art Gallery. Guests may join the curator's walk-through at 2 PM.

*THE PRINT FOLIOSelections from the AAG Collection*
*The Print Folio: Selections from the AAG Collection *is extended until
March ! Watch out as the museum rotates recent acquisitions in the
collection. Other featured folios include works by Varujan Boghosian, Rod.
Paras-Perez, Arturo Luz, the Contemporary Asian Prints produced by the
Fukuoka Art Museum in 1989 and prints from Art in the Park 2016.

*LOCUS AMOENUSRyan Villamael*
*Locus Amoenus* or “pleasant place” is an installation composed of finely
cut latticework from replicas of geographical maps which resemble foliage
and fronds. Its first iteration was in 2016 at the Singapore Art Museum for
the Singapore Biennale. A recent version is currently on view at the MAIIAM
Contemporary Art Museum in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Ryan Villamael was a 2015
Ateneo Art Awards – Fernando Zóbel Prizes for Visual Art winner and the
recipient of La Trobe University and Liverpool Hope University residency
*Locus Amoenus*, Villamael's return show, is on view at the staircase of
the Ateneo Art Gallery until February 2019.

This exhibition features the gallery’s permanent collection at the Mr
& Mrs Chung
Te Gallery, Mr & Mrs Ching Tan Gallery, and Ernesto and Susan Tanmantiong
Gallery. Expect to see new artworks on display as the gallery switches some
of its pieces to highlight more donors who contributed to the expansion of
the collection since 1960.
