The MANILA OBSERVATORY is a Jesuit scientific research institution with
research work in the fields of atmospheric and earth science in the
Philippines and the Southeast Asian region. It advocates a science-based
approach to sustainable development and poverty reduction through its
principal focus on the areas of climate change and disaster science.

*UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER II*
Employment Type: Full Time

PROJECT TITLE: MULTITEMPORAL AND EXTREMES ANALYSIS OF MODELED CLIMATOLOGY
OVER THE PHILIPPINES IN THE SEA CORDEX DOMAIN PROJECT

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

   - Review current related literature on (regional) climate variability
   and extremes
   - Manage the gathering, preparing and archiving ground-based and
   remotely-sensed observation data of meteorological variables over the
   Philippines
   - Design, coordinate and conduct the evaluation and analysis of
   SEACLID/CORDEX-SEA model outputs at multi-temporal scales in terms of large
   scale atmospheric circulation, regional climate variability and extremes
   - Investigate the associated climate dynamics behind the model’s
   performance in capturing climate variability and extremes
   - Supervise the preparation of analyses outputs including
   spatio-temporal maps, correlation maps and climate extremes information
   - Lead the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and journal
   publications

QUALIFICATIONS

   - Doctorate degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics,
   preferably physics or atmospheric science
   - Proficient in data analysis and scientific computing (including Linux,
   programming and scripting languages)
   - Proficient in oral and written communication, particularly in
   preparing technical scientific reports
   - Works well with a team with good organizational and interpersonal
   skills
