Invite you to a forum on

*Economics of Anti-Drug Campaigns*

January 23, Monday, 4- 6 pm, Faura Audio Visual Room

As its contribution to the ongoing discourse on the Duterte
administration’s war against illegal drugs, the Ateneo School of Government
(ASOG) and the Ateneo Economics Department, School of Social Sciences, will
hold a forum entitled “*The Economics of Anti-Drug Campaigns*” The forum
will feature the insights of *Dr. John Collins* of the London School of
Economics via videoconference.

Dr. Collins is the Executive Director of the LSE IDEAS International Drug
Policy Project. He is also the coordinator of the Expert Group on the
Economics of Drug Policy. He edited the 2012 LSE Ideas Special Report,
“After the Drug Wars”, and is currently coordinating a British Council
funded project on illicit drug production and peace building in Colombia.
His research seeks to locate the issue of drug control within the context
of evolving Anglo-American relations and the Cold War more broadly.

Forum reactors will be *Ma. Luz Querubin MD*, Associate Dean, School of
Medicine and Public Health and *Ma. Regina Hechanova*, Professor,
Department of Psychology, School of Social Sciences, Ateneo de Manila

Works and What Doesn’t Work” will also be launched at the forum. The report
features insights from international and local evidence and experience of
other countries using a multidisciplinary lens (health, legal, social) in
addressing the country’s illegal drug problem. It presents recommendations
that could provide more informed appreciation of the anti-drug campaign and
contribute to greater accountability of the police units and local
governments.
