[Blueboard] Basic Research Ethics Training, April 20 to 21

The University Research Ethics Office (UREO) is inviting the University
community to a


*to be conducted on *
*Thursday, April 20 (8 am - 5 pm) at CTC 413*
*to Friday, April 21 (8 am -5 pm) at Faber 302*
*Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City*
*[note: all fees are subsidized by the UREO]*

The aims of the training are to equip the participants with knowledge of
basic concepts and principles regarding ethical research with human
participants, and to enable participants to apply these concepts in their
conduct and/or review of research involving human participants.
*Research ethics review
protocols in the Ateneo will also be presented*.

The training will be conducted by Dr. Rosario Angeles Alora and Dr. Ricardo
M. Manalastas, Jr. of the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board(PHREB),
under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). PHREB is the
national body that ensures adherence to the principles for the protection
of human participants in research studies conducted in the Philippines.
Certificates of participation will be issued by PHREB to those who are able
to attend at least 80% of the training.

SLOTS ARE LIMITED, and participants will be listed on a first come, first
served basis. Priority will be given to faculty and staff who are assigned
specific research, teaching (e.g. methods courses), mentorship (e.g.
graduate theses and dissertation advising), and review functions (e.g.
research ethics review committee member) in his or her School, Department,
Unit, or Center.
