The MANILA OBSERVATORY, a Jesuit institution engaged in scientific  
research, invites applicants for the following position:


Job Description:

1. Data encoding
In coordination with the Project Research Assistants, scope for  
exposure and vulnerability data which may be mapped via GIS for the  
Contact secondary data sources to gather spatial data on exposure and  
vulnerability in interoperable formats
Structure and encode data in GIS registries on exposure and  
vulnerability for spatial databases in preparation for GIS mapping
Review spatial data encoded to ensure their integrity and correctness
Doublecheck resulting GIS maps in terms of correctness
Guide the Project Research Assistant and RS-GIS Technologist in  
correcting GIS maps on exposure and vulnerability
Update data on exposure and vulnerability (i.e. Population density and  
poverty, respectively) for emergency mapping in MO
Trace data sources and dates in spatial databases
Complete metadata on GIS datasets

2. General Administrative Support for Program/Project

2.1 Assist in office and administrative tasks and operations
Coordinate administrative assistance for the Project
Provide the interface between project and research administrative  
needs and the Research Support and Accounting Services of the Manila  
Provide office support such as supplies and equipment requests,  
monitoring general expenses, and daily operation activities
Provide support on financial related tasks, including liquidation,  
reimbursements, monitoring program/project budget, and compiling  
annual budget
Assist in logistics-related arrangements for meetings, including  
communication, documentation of meeting and organizing records,  
including attendance lists, name tags, certificates of participation  
and attendance, food and venue, ORs, etc.
Provide support on travel related arrangements of research personnel
Assist in logistics-related arrangements and documentary support  
during seminars and workshops
Organize Project administrative files

2.2   Assist in event preparations
Provide adhoc and logistics support in institutional and project  
activities, including workshops

Competencies, Skills and Qualifications:

College graduate
Over 5 years of work experience in SSTA-related fields, especially  
concerning spatial database set-up and project management
Knowledge of ArcGIS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Proficient in oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills and a team worker
Keen interest in environment, weather, and climate
