Re   :    30th Anniversary of EDSA People Power

The University community is invited to revisit, reflect on, and revive the
spirit of the 1986 EDSA People Power Upheaval on its milestone 30th
anniversary, through participation in events both in and out of campus in
these next couple of weeks.

The following activities (among others) at the Loyola Heights campus have
been lined up by various offices and units as contributions to the
memorialization of EDSA at 30:

*Trenta: An EDSA Memorial Exhibit*

Interactive Exhibit and Freedom Wall. A journey through the EDSA experience
(1983-1986, culminating in the EDSA Revolution). Fun facts and a
chronological, immersive account. Recalling Ateneans in EDSA and connecting
30 years into the past with the elections in the near future.

*Beginning Monday, February 22, 2016, until Friday, March 4, 2016*

*EDSA walk*

LS Council of Organizations in the Ateneo (COA)


*Book sale in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA event*

Special discounts on the following titles: *Taming People's Power:The EDSA
Revolutions and their Contradictions* (by Lisandro E. Claudio), *Down from
the Hill: Ateneo de Manila in the First Ten Years under **Martial Law,
1972-1982* (by Cristina Jayme Montiel and Susan Evangelista), *Living and
Dying: In Memory of 11 Ateneo de Manila Martial Law Activists* (by Cristina
Jayme Montiel)

Open-space, public gathering of past and present generations to share their
stories and awareness about EDSA. Bringing in the past so as to shed light
on the present, as we shape the country's future in the national elections
on May 9, 2016. Featuring EDSA Freedom Fighters and Ateneo alumni. With
open mic performances from the students.

*Stories much Savored; Lessons worth Saving: EDSA at 30@Ateneo*

A sharing of EDSA experiences and reflections by campus and off campus
EDSA veterans (Ed Garcia, Toby Dayrit, Tony La Viña, Tina Montiel, Fr. Bert
Alejo SJ, Melay Abao, Rene San Andres, Miel Reyes). Stories to remember the
People Power event by; lessons that give meaning to moving forward with the
spirit of EDSA.

*Awit at Sining ng EDSA sa Trenta *

Mini-concert featuring songs and music popularized during the EDSA or
Martial law periods. Performances by artists from those decades or
reinterpreted by student artists and student musical groups. Deepening the
spirit and meaning of EDSA for current and future generations.

Presentors: LS Departments of History and Political Science


*Holy Mass and ringing of the Church of the Gesu bells for a one-minute
silent prayer *

Honoring the graces and blessings of EDSA to our country and continuing to
pray for future blessings of hope. For the members of the Ateneo de Manila
community, as well as of the Jesuit communities on campus, alumni, lay
partners, and friends.
