*ACFJ welcomes new executive director*

The Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila
University (ACFJ) welcomed seasoned journalist and academic Luz Rimban as
executive director, replacing outgoing director Dr Estelle Marie Ladrido.

Rimban is a journalism practitioner. She is the supervising producer of the
ABS-CBN News Channel’s *The World Tonight*, the Philippines’
longest-running English newscast. Her vast experience in the journalism
industry includes serving as reporter for the biggest television networks
in the Philippines—GMA Network

ABC and SkyCable, now the ABS-CBN News Channel

In 2008, she co-founded VERA Files

an online news organization that seeks to engage in in-depth reporting of
current Philippine issues.

Luz received a full fellowship grant from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation

to pursue Master of Arts in Journalism in Ateneo de Manila University,
where she also serves as a lecturer. She also earned a Diploma in Broadcast
Journalism from the Cardiff University, United Kingdom.

ACFJ also extends thanks to outgoing director Dr Ladrido for the dedication
and service she has rendered to the center on its 15th year.

The ACFJ management and staff is now composed of: Luz Rimban, executive
director; Dr Violet Valdez, MA Journalism program coordinator; Aaron
Vicencio, Visual Journalism program coordinator; Katherine November Grupo,
administrative officer; Ferda Yasmin Punay, finance officer; Samantha
Javier, research and communications officer; Ma. Rosario Madjos, office
assistant; and Rhodora Mae Marbella, programs assistant.

ACFJ is a center for continuing education for Asian journalists. It is a
unit of the Department of Communication of the Ateneo de Manila University
founded in 2000 as a partnership project of the university and the German
political foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). Through blended
learning methods ACFJ brings together reporters, writers, editors and
publishers in its virtual and residential classrooms to pursue lifelong
learning. Among its regular programs are the Master of Arts in Journalism,
Diploma in Photojournalism and the Diploma in Multimedia Journalism.
