The Department of Biology and the Ateneo Biological Organization - *eXplore.
eXperience. eXcel. *(BOx) invite you all to ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK 2015! It
will be held from 12 to 16 October 2015.
Animal Welfare Week (AWW) is an event organized by BOx in collaboration
with the Department and groups from outside the Ateneo. It advocates for
the welfare of animals both wild and domesticated by educating the
community on matters of animal wellness and proper treatment of all animals.
The following activities will be part of AWW:
Bring Your Own Dog Day (12 October 2015; 9:00 am- 1:00 pm)
Co-organized with the Department of Biology, Bring Your Own Dog (BYOD) Day
is the one day of the semester where members of the Loyola Schools
community can bring their lovable dogs to school! And right in time for
midterms, too (when we all need to de-stress). Humans and dog partners will
be able to mingle and play with each other and with fellow Ateneans at the
BYOD Area (the SEC Field). Any member of the LS community (student,
faculty, staff) may pre-register to bring their dog (sign-up page:
http://tinyurl.com/BYOD-AWW2015; slots are limited!).
Animal Welfare Forum (14 October 2015; 4:30 pm- 6:00 pm)
The Animal Welfare Forum is an event where students can ask questions to
invited animal enthusiasts and experts about current issues regarding
Animal Welfare, Wildlife Trade, and Wildlife Conservation.
Animal Ambassador Pageant (16 October 2015; 4:30 pm- 7:00 pm)
The Animal Ambassador Pageant is an event that aims to select student
ambassadors who will represent BOx and the school in promoting animal
welfare and coordinating with organizations regarding events concerning
these issues outside the Ateneo de Manila University. Any LS student may
join the contest (sign-up page: http://tinyurl.com/AnimalAmbassador)
Throughout the week at Sec B Foyer, AWW will also have all-day activities
Various creative art activities will be offered throughout the week such as
illustration coloring, sticker making, and origami making. All designs for
the activities will be animal-themed.
Students can take quizzes about animal welfare issues, zoology, and animals
in pop culture for a chance to win food prizes.
Students can get their pictures taken during the week-long event.
Animal-related props are also provided for a more fun photo shoot.
AWW is a yearly project of BOx that is part of its thrust toward advocacy
and action in biodiversity, bio-education, and animal welfare.
We hope to see you at all of the events!
