The Cultural Heritage Studies Program
of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology

invites you to

*Puerto Princesa's Cuisine:*
*A Creative Encounter*

A community’s cultural heritage is expressed through its kitchen. This
year, the Cultural Heritage Studies Program of the Department of Sociology
and Anthropology has organized two dinners, November 10 and 28, celebrating
the food and the beers of Puerto Princesa. This serves as a follow-through
to the Ateneo Cultural Laboratory which took place in that city in
June-July 2015 and uses as its basis the research undertaken by students on
its culinary tradition. The partners of the CHSP are the students of the
course “Introduction to Cultural Heritage” 2015-2016; Chef Myke “Tatung”
Sarthou of Alab Restaurant who will speak on “Egoless Cooking”; and Mama
Sita Foundation which is sponsoring the first dinner and has invited the
national media to attend. The 2016 edition of the annual essay-writing
contest, “Mga Kuwentong Pagkain”, will be launched by Mama Sita Foundation
during the November 10 dinner.

The first event, November 10 (Tuesday), is by invitation only; the second
event, November 28 (Saturday), is open to the public. Both events will be
held at Alab Restaurant at Scout Rallos near the corner of Tomas Morato
Avenue, Quezon City, from 6:00 p.m. onwards. The varied flavors of Palaweño
Brewery, the second dinner’s sponsor, will be available to accompany the
barbecue. Tickets for the second dinner sell at P350 per person, and should
be bought at least a week before November 28.

For inquiries, please contact Ms. Julia Chiong (chiong.julia at gmail.com) and
Mr. Ralf Sulague (rmsulague at gmail.com). These two dinners mark the fourth
in a series of first semester dinners titled: “Celebrating a Community’s
Creative Genius.” Thus far, Nasugbu-Balayan; Tayabas; Alburquerque, Bohol
have been covered.
