Call for Applications for the Japan Foundation Asia Center Curatorial
The submission deadline for this year's curatorial workshop has been
extended to *8 November 2015*. Please feel free to share this call for
applications to interested individuals within your network.
The workshop is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals interested
in contemporary curatorial practice, and it will be held in the following
countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and
Vietnam. This program is aimed at enhancing expertise in curating
contemporary art and related platforms; if selected for the workshop,
participants willl not only have an opportunity to meet peers, but to learn
from leading art historians, scholars, and artists in Asia.
Ten applicants for the Philippines will be selected to participate in the
workshop at the Vargas Museum (28-30 November 2015), which will be led by *Dr.
Patrick Flores (Curator, Vargas Museum)* and *Ms. Che Kyongfa (Curator,
Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo)*. Workshop participants will
present their exhibition/art project proposal to the Japan Foundation and
the UP Vargas Museum.
At the end of the workshop, two participants will be selected for a 2-week
(22 February to 6 March) research trip in Japan to meet with curators and
art historians, museums and galleries, artists and independent art spaces.
They will be asked to organize their exhibition/art project in the
Philippines in 2017, funded by the Japan Foundation Asia Center.
