Association of Marine Science National Symposium on Marine Science.
The event was held on October 22-24, 2015 in Green Leaf Hotel, General
Santos City, South Cotabato.
Ms. Rodrigo's presentation entitled "The Mapping of Storm Surge-Prone
Areas Along Leyte Gulf" was co-authored with Cesar L. Villanoyb , Jeric C.

Following is the abstract of their paper:
The primary goal of this study is to identify where and how often surge of
catastrophic magnitudes is likely to occur in Leyte Gulf. Surge levels were
estimated using a hydrodynamic model forced by 200 years' worth of
synthetic cyclones. It was found that the most populated part, the
Tacloban-Basey area, is most prone to surges as it is likely to receive
surge of approximately 3 meters every 55 years, followed by the Palo area
(2 meters every 55 years) then Giporlos-Salcedo (1 meter every 55 years).
Congratulations, Socorro! We are proud of you!
