Memo to             :               The University Community

Subject                 :               Call for Research Proposals





The University Research Council (URC) aims to support interdisciplinary
“game changing” scholarly work of the Ateneo de Manila and increase the
scholarly work/creative output of the University. The URC is thus pleased
to announce funding for research projects on the following themes:



   - *Risk assessment and reduction*

*                (e.g. disaster science and policy, governance, social
vulnerability)*



   - *Public education reform*

*(e.g. curriculum innovation, teacher education, education leadership,
learning, system reform, technological innovation)*



   - *Health systems development*

*(e.g. health leadership, finance, technological innovation, service
delivery*, *health communication)*



   - *Sustainability*

*(e.g. sustainable livelihood, systems innovation, liveable communities,
clean energy, sustainable transport, materials)*



   - *Creativity, innovation and culture*

*(e.g. identity, nationhood, social innovation) *



The research projects with one- or two-year timeframes may be of
theoretical or applied nature, interdisciplinary, and with clear social
relevance in any of the themes cited above. Funding per project is up to
P500,000 and will be awarded on a competitive basis. The primary criteria
for project award are: (a) relevance to the priority themes, (b)
interdisciplinarity, (c) strength of the project concept, design and
methodology, (d) expected output including publication potential, and (e)
desired social impact. Policies and guidelines as well as the application

Three items need to be submitted:

   - Detailed proposal as described in the guidelines
   - Completed application form with a 100-word abstract, noted by the
   chair and dean
   - Curriculum vitae of the lead proponent (maximum of two-pages)



The deadline for submission of these materials is *August 15, 2015*. Hard
copies are to be submitted to the Office of the Associate Dean for Research
and Creative Work at Faber Hall 307 *AND* soft copies sent by e-mail
to *mrivera at ateneo.edu
<mrivera at ateneo.edu>*. Awards will be announced in November 2015, and
projects may start in January 2016.
