Conference on Social Enterprise and Innovation slated

On November 20 and 21 the 2014 Social Entrepreneurship Conference on Social
Enterprise and Innovation: The Roles of Universities will be held at the
Escaler Hall of Ateneo de Manila University.  This conference is
co-presented by the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSENT) at
the John Gokongwei School of Management, the Philippine Social Enterprise
Network and the Foundation for a Sustainable Society (FSSI), in
collaboration with the Social Enterprise Development Partnerships Inc.
(SEDPI).

APS to hold a Multimedia Exhibit

The Ateneo Professional Schools (APS) will have a Multimedia Exhibit
showcasing 40 years of the APS as a globally competitive center of
excellence in graduate education. The exhibit will be held in Rockwell
Center’s Power Plant Mall from October 20 to 25, 2014. It will formally
open at 5 PM on October 20.

Ateneo DREaM Team Calls for Cash Donation for Mayon area Evacuees

The Ateneo de Manila University, through its Disaster Response and
Management (DREaM) Team endorses the call of its fellow Jesuit university,
Ateneo de Naga (AdNU, through its Center for Community Development), for
financial support for AdNU’s relief/response operations for families
affected by the seismic situation in the vicinity of Mount Mayon in Albay
province.

Dr. Diana Mendoza, Assistant Professor at the Department of Political
Science, held a lecture on October 9, 2014 at the Leong Hall Conference
Room about the ongoing protests in Hong Kong, arguing that “democratization
in Hong Kong is quite different from other paths of third-wave
democratization” and that the “challenge of democracy will be a protracted
political struggle and one in which China would have the final say.”

Perhaps, one of the most boring economic variables to forecast is the
annual average interest rate. Why? Because there is no need for
sophistication in the needed mathematics and no challenge of any sort in
terms of economic modeling. Consider the 91-day Treasury bill (T-bill), the
interest rate on which is the one that most, if not all, market-determined
rates go with.

Blue and Lady Tankers make history

For the first time in history, the Blue and Lady Tankers were crowned the
champions of the 77th University Athletic Association of the Philippines
Swimming Championships in the men’s, women’s and boys’ divisions. In
addition, the high school team also bagged another championship, as the
victory last weekend marked their tenth straight title.
