College freshman and transfer application forms for SY 2015-2016 available
at the Admissions Office
The Office of Admission and Aid is currently issuing college freshman and
transfer application forms for School Year 2015-2016 until December 12,
2014. The Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) for this batch will be held
on January 17, 2015, Saturday.

Nine Ateneans intern in prestigious Japanese University
Nine Ateneo de Manila University students from the School of Science and
Engineering flew to Japan for a two-week internship in various laboratories
in the fields of information science (IS), biological sciences (BS), and
material sciences (MS), at Nara Institute of Science and Technology
(NAIST). The NAIST Project for Interns (NAPI) accepts candidates who have a
strong desire to pursue graduate studies.

Conference on Social Enterprise and Innovation slated
On November 20 and 21 the 2014 Social Entrepreneurship Conference on Social
Enterprise and Innovation: The Roles of Universities will be held at the
Escaler Hall of Ateneo de Manila University. This conference is
co-presented by the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSENT) at
the John Gokongwei School of Management, the Philippine Social Enterprise
Network and the Foundation for a Sustainable Society (FSSI), in
collaboration with the Social Enterprise Development Partnerships Inc.
13th Jaime V. Ongpin Annual Memorial Lecture—“Confronting Disasters:
On November 5, 2014, Undersecretary Alexander Pama, Administrator, Office
of Civil Defense and Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) delivered the 13th Jaime V. Ongpin
Annual Memorial Lecture on Public Service in Business and Government.

The Ateneo Art Gallery to feature two artists who use ordinary construction
materials this month
Transforming spaces and perceptions through memory are at the heart of
Anton del Castillo’s A Child’s Memory and Eric Zamuco’s Another Other.
Drawing inspiration from their experiences as fathers and husbands, the two
artists create and construct retrospective worlds of movement and change.

KK Reading Series presents Miguel Syjuco
Kritika Kultura, the international refereed journal of language, literary,
and cultural studies of the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila
University-–in cooperation with Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and
Practices (AILAP), Fine Arts Program, and Rizal Library-–will be hosting a
reading and lecture by Miguel Syjuco titled “Striving for the Novel. Novel,
as in, New.”

A tradition in transition
“FABILIOH. HALIKINU. Sis Boom Bah.” These incomprehensible words have been
chanted for generations by men and women who have witnessed the triumphs
and struggles of those who have donned the blue and white since the days of
Moro Lorenzo. Yet, despite this rich tradition inherited by today’s
generation of Ateneans, the state of the school spirit has been in decline,
a result of the changing times that the Ateneo’s own Blue Babble Battalion
has struggled to adapt to.

The Ateneo Women’s Basketball team improved their record from a single win
last season to finishing with seven wins and seven losses in this year’s
University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The Lady Eagles
just missed out on their aim of a Final Four berth, placing fifth behind
the National University, De La Salle University, the University of Santo
Tomas and Far Eastern University.
The Ateneo Aikido Club invites new members of the Ateneo Community to join
The Ateneo Aikido Club is inviting members of the Ateneo community to join
the AAC. New members will be accepted starting the first week of the Second
Semester (November 10-14, 2014).
