*Bridges to Southeast Asia: Perspectives from the Ateneo*

The Development Studies Program and Southeast Asian Studies Program are
planning to host a conference-workshop among LS faculty and graduate
students whose works cover Southeast Asia or any of its countries other
than the Philippines. All types of studies on Southeast Asia, completed or
ongoing, are welcome.

We plan to hold the workshop on *February 27, 2015.*

Its main goal is to take stock of ongoing studies being conducted at the
Ateneo de Manila in relation to Southeast Asia as an exciting field of
inquiry. Apart from identifying our existing strengths, the workshop also
presents itself as an opportunity for scholarly collaboration in terms of
teaching and research.

In view of ASEAN 2015, we see the value of strengthening the research and
teaching position of the Ateneo in relation to Southeast Asia. This
workshop is an invitation to colleagues and graduate students to
participate in developing Southeast Asian studies as a worthwhile academic
endeavor within the Ateneo de Manila.

If you are interested in participating in this workshop and presenting a
paper from your past or ongoing research, please do not hesitate to send us
an abstract (not exceeding 500 words) by January 24, 2015.

Please feel free to share with us your preliminary ideas. Thank you very
much.
