SUBJECT:	Reminders for the Emergency Drills on 20 February 2013,
                 Wednesday

As announced to the community by a memo dated 22 January 2013, the
Loyola Schools Emergency Assistance Team together with the Facilities
Management Office, Quezon City Fire Department, Lifeline Rescue and
the Barangay Loyola Heights officials will be assisting in the Loyola
Schools emergency drills on February 20, Wednesday. The drill
exercises consist of back-to-back earthquake and fire drills which
will take place any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

I request your full support and cooperation in these important
exercises. To achieve efficiency in the coordination of the drills,
may I reiterate the procedures for faculty and students to follow
should the drills take place during class time:

?	The drills will be conducted one after the other but will not take
place within the same class hour.

?	Faculty are requested to go through the drill procedures with their
classes. This year, class beadles have been asked to assist in the
preparation of a complete headcount and missing persons report, for
submission to the Disaster Team Coordinator of each building after the
drills.

?	EARTHQUAKE DRILL: A siren will be sounded-off to indicate the start
of the earthquake drill. Faculty are then requested to instruct
students to conduct the duck, cover, and hold sequence. A second siren
will be sounded-off to indicate evacuation to the designated
evacuation areas. Building marshalls will be deployed to ensure an
orderly and timely evacuation. Please refer to the list of evacuation
areas on the second sheet. The drill is expected to last within 10-15
minutes. Everyone will be asked to return to their classrooms after
the earthquake drill.

?	FIRE DRILL: Anytime after the earthquake drill, a fire alarm will
be sounded-off to signal the start of the fire drill. Faculty are
then requested to lead their students to the designated evacuation
areas. Similarly, building marshalls will assist in ensuring an
orderly and timely evacuation. The drill is expected to last within
10-15 minutes. However, there will be one pre-selected building that
will simulate a firefighting and search-and-rescue operation with the
Quezon City Fire Department. Occupants of this building will need to
wait for the simulated operation to be complete before they are asked
to return to their classrooms. Occupants of other buildings may opt
to either return to their classrooms after completion of the
evacuation procedure, or observe the simulation. The entire
simulation may take an extra 15 minutes. Kindly expect some noise
disturbance to accompany the simulation.

These drills ensure the community?s preparedness for all emergency
evacuations that may possibly be encountered in the future. The
annual emergency drills are also an important requirement for quality
assurance. Each year, the Quezon City Fire Department evaluates the
Loyola Schools on the orderliness and speed of its evacuation, search,
and rescue operations.

I thank you in advance for your valuable cooperation, leadership, and
vigilance which are all essential to the success of the emergency
drills.
