*Some AIS tips for a sustainable Christmas and 2014 *

   - Use less packaging.
   - Go paperless when possible.
   - Use fixtures and appliances with low wattage.
   - Set your thermostat at 22-25oc and use an electric fan to help
   circulate the cool air.
   - Walk/cycle when you can—it’s good for your health and the environment.
   - Plan your trip and choose a shared mode of transport, when possible
   (carpooling, public transpo).
   - Keep your engines efficient and clean to avoid smoke-belching and
   other emissions.

·         Check out these free apps to help you with your environmental
initiatives:

o   *Waterprint* - Most of the water we waste, we cannot see!  Use this app
to know how much water was used in a product's lifecycle!

o   *Rippl *- Want a more sustainable 2014 but don't know where to start?
Get suggestions on sustainable lifestyle choices from Rippl.

o   *Google Night Sky* - Urban light pollution prevents us from seeing the
stars.  Continue to marvel at the night sky by using this app, which shows
the positions of the stars, constellations, and other heavenly bodies.

o   *USGS Earthquake Data or Quakefeed* - Monitor earthquakes all over the
globe, using data from the USGS.

o    *Sakay.ph *– Make your mass transit transport experience easier with
transit directions from this app.  More apps for mobility may be found at:

o    *Taiwan Weather Satellite:* Satellite images (including clouds and
infrared indicating potential for strong rainfall) for weather events
monitoring.

o    *Flood Patrol:* an Android mobile phone application developed by the
Ateneo Java Wireless Competency Center (AJWCC)

o   *MMDA App:* Metro Manila Traffic Navigator that has the MetroWeather
stations in Metro Manila for weather monitoring

o   *Project NOAH:* for weather monitoring
             o   *USGS Earthquake Data* – Get info to monitor earthquakes.
