Kpop, Kimbap, atbp: 2012 Korean Chuseok (Thanksgiving) Festival

The Ateneo Initiative for Korean Studies (AIKS) is pleased to invite
you to Ateneo?s first week-long Korean event: Kpop, Kimbap, atbp: 2012
Korean Chuseok (Thanksgiving) Festival. Scheduled a week before the
actual chuseok/thanksgiving celebration in Korea - a major, if not the
biggest, Korean holiday - AIKS, together with its main partners ? the
Korean Cultural Center (KCC) and the Modern Languages Department -
will bring to the university a feel of Korea through various cultural
festivities from September 24 to 28, 2012. To promote cultural
exchange, the festival will also showcase different Filipino and
Korean performances by Ateneo students.

Come and join the following events and experience Korea right here in
the Ateneo! FREEBIES and TOKENS will be given away so make sure you
don?t miss any of the following activities:

KOREAN CULTURAL CENTER (KCC) BOOK AND CULTURE CARAVAN: A FEEL OF HAN STYLE
September 24-26, 2012, 9AM-6PM, MVP Basement
?Han? style is a collective term for the six (6) primary symbols of
Korean culture, namely, Hangeul (Korean alphabet); Hanji (Korean
traditional paper), Hansik (Korean food), Hanok (Korean traditional
house), Hanbok (Korean traditional clothing) and Hanguk Eumak (Korean
traditional music).The KCC caravan will showcase various aspects of
Han Style and contemporary Korean culture through the following
activities:
?        Korean Book Exhibit (Sept 24-26, 9AM-6PM, MVP Basement)
?        Picture Perfect: Pose with Hanbok (Sept 24-26, 9AM-6PM, MVP Basement)
?        Play Korean Traditional Games: Featuring Tuho (Sept 24-26, 9AM-6PM,

?        Hallyu (Korean Wave) Talk (Sept 25, 3-4PM, MVP Basement)
?        Korean Film Showing (Sept 25, 4:30-6PM; Sept 27-28, 12-3PM, MMR)

AIKS COLLOQUIUM: ?KOREANS IN THE PHILIPPINES: WHO, WHEN & WHY?
September 27, 2012, 3PM-5PM, SocSci Conference Rooms 1 and 2
The AIKS Colloquium Series aims to heighten awareness of and interest
in issues related to Korea and Philippines-Korea relations. Each
colloquium focuses on a single theme to be explored side-by-side by
invited Filipino and Korean speakers. This year, Jung Bubmo of the
Commission of Filipino Overseas Korean Cultural Program for Marriage
Migrants and Archie Resos of the Department of History, University of
Sto. Tomas were invited as speakers.

HIMIG HANGUK: PHIL-KOR MUSIC FESTIVAL
September 28, 2012, 4:30PM-6PM, MVP Basement
An afternoon of Filipino and Korean song/dance performances

These activities have been organized with the help of AIKS interns and
members of ALAC, APAIR and ASEC.
