FROM : FACULTY FORMATION TEAM
RE : TFI TALK ON PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS AND RUBRICS: TOOLS
"FOR" AND "OF"
            STUDENT LEARNING

The Faculty Formation Team would like to invite you to a talk-workshop
entitled: PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS AND RUBRICS: TOOLS "FOR" AND "OF"
STUDENT LEARNING

Assessment of students' learning is an integral part of education.
While many think of assessment as evaluating student learning toward
giving a grade, (summative evaluation), many educators have found
assessment as an essential tool to help students learn better
(formative evaluation). At present, one of the more commonly used
assessments "for" and "of" student learning is the use of complex
performance assessments and their accompanying rubrics. This session
will discuss how complex performance assessments (sometimes referred
to as "authentic" assessments)and rubrics to help improve student
learning.

Dr. Cornelia C. Soto, Chair of the Department of Education will
conduct the session which will be held on 26 September 2012, Wednesday
from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Function Room of Faber Hall.

All LS Faculty are welcome to attend. For those completing the TFI
requirement, this counts as a TFI follow-up session. Please confirm
your attendance to Jessica Laroya of the OVPLS, local 5004 or at
jlaroya at ateneo.edu. Light refreshments will be served.
