the editor-in-chief of /Philippine Studies/. Most of all, however, she
was a teacher, whose many students still remember with fondness.

The relationship between the university and Fernandez was a long and
fruitful one.

To commemorate her, a Mass will be celebrated on September 27, 2012, at

Communication Department, has organized a duo-piano concert featuring

research and scholarly work by faculty members and given out
professorial chair awards yearly from SY 2005-2006 to the present.
Additional contributions to the fund will enable it to better support
the second purpose of the endowment, which is creative work by students
in the areas of Dr. Fernandez's interests such as an annual creative
writing competition among freshmen and writings related to food
anthropology and criticism. Please contact the OUDAR at 426-6001, local
