The School of Social Sciences is pleased to offer SocSci 110 -  
Introduction to Global Studies in the second semester of School Year  
2012-2013.

This new multidisciplinary course provides an overview of global  
studies, and globalization in particular, from the perspective of  
different social science disciplines. It examines the economic,  
social, cultural, political, technological, and other transformations  
that have created an increasing awareness of the interrelationships  
and interconnectedness of peoples and places around the globe. It  
analyzes individual and institutional responses to globalization.

Dr. Lisandro Elias Claudio, Assistant Professor of the Department of  
Political Science is the Course Coordinator. SocSci 110 integrates  
lectures by fourteen seasoned faculty members of the School of Social  
Sciences. These include:

1.	Dr. Benjamin Tolosa on Approaches to the Study of Globalization
2.	Dr. Lisandro Elias Claudio on Themes in Contemporary Global History
3.	Dr. Joseph Lim on Contemporary Global Economy
4.	Dr. Francis Gealogo on Modern Southeast Asia
5.	Dr. Lydia Yu-Jose on Modern Japan and Korea
6.	Dr. Ellen Palanca on China?s Relations with Southeast Asia
7.	Ambassador Rosario Manalo on the European Union
8.	Dr. Emma Porio on Globalizing Cities
9.	Mr. Leland de la Cruz on International Organizations in Local Development
10.	Dr. Filomeno Aguilar, Jr. on Global/Transnational Migrations
11.	Mr. Mark Escaler on Global Technology and Media Cultures
12.	Dr. Fernando Zialcita on Culture in a Globalizing World
13.	Dr. Cristina Montiel on Global Peace and Conflict
14.	Dr. Germelino  Bautista on Global Environmental Issues
