ABSTRACT
Contemporary China?s economic system was planned economy in the period  
of 1949-1978. After 1978, China began to transfer to market economy.  
The process is very long. In the year of 1992, the aim of market  
economy is established formally. Understanding the change of  
contemporary China is necessary to understand contemporary China?s  
economic history.


ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Prof. Ren Xiaowei, acquired his Doctor of Law degree from the School  
of International Studies of Peking University in 2005.  He is a  
professor of Shaanxi Normal University, teaching Modern China?s  
History, Economic and Political Thoughts. Prof. Ren is currently  
studying at the Ateneo de Manila University with the support of the  
United Board Fellows Program.
