The Office of International Relations is pleased to announce that the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2013/2014 (HKPFS) at Lingnan University is now open for applications.


Established by the Research Grants Council Hong Kong (RGC) in 2009, the HKPFS aims to attract the best and brightest students from all over the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's world- class research institutions. 


The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and a conference and research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of three years. About 135 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in each academic year. The Fellows Scheme is open to candidates particularly from the areas such as Arts, Business, Economics and Social Sciences. 


Prospective applicants seeking admission to the PhD programmes should possess:

·         Master's Degree from a recognized university or comparable institution; or

·         Any other qualification deemed by the Graduate School to be acceptable for this purpose

o    Candidates may be required to take a qualifying examination, in which progress shall be reported to the Graduate School at the end of their first year of study

o    Applicants may also be required to prove their language abilities in English and/or Chinese by means of a performance test such as TOEFL, IELTS and MIL.


To seek admission, interested applicants should log on to www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd to get a reference number by December 1, 2012. The applicant is then required to submit a full application directly to Lingnan's electronic system at www.ln.edu.hk/reg/info/pgrad/details/prod_online.php. Applicants may choose up to two programmes / departments for PhD study under HKPFS 2013/14. 


Deadline of submission of completed application is on December 3, 2012.
