Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Department of Political Science, I would like to invite
you to a talk by Rep. Walden Bello to be held this Friday (Jan. 27) from
4:30-6 p, in SOM 111 (Ching Tan). The talk is a Soc Sci week activity of
our department. Please see the blurb below

?Deglobalization: A Response to Global Financial Crises??

In 2003, Walden Bello, once called the ?world?s leading no-nonsense
revolutionary,? published*Deglobalization: Ideas for a New World Economy*,
which argued for the scaling back of the immense web of international trade
and financial agreements under International Financial Institutions (IFIs).
Recently, Bello?s ideas have stirred debate in the French parliament amidst
the Eurocrises and the 2008 global financial meltdown. In this talk, Bello
revisits the themes of his book given recent developments, positing new
questions and challenges for the global economy.
