No court holiday on impeachment day: Marquez (ABS-CBNNews.com )

"MANILA, Philippines - Supreme Court spokesman Jose Midas Marquez on Monday assured the public that there will be no court holiday on the first day of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Nevertheless, Marquez said the Supreme Court is leaving it up to lower court judges and personnel if they will show their support for the embattled chief magistrate during today's ceremonies in Padre Faura.

"Nasa sa kanila yun kung dadalo sila. Hindi naman tayo nagbigay ng utos na mag-court holiday o magsarado ang mga korte so iniwan namin 'yan sa mga huwes kung sila ba ay dadalo dito upang magpakita ng kanilang suporta, magmisa at makinig sa ating punong mahistrado," Marquez said in an interview on Umagang Kay Ganda.

The SC spokesman also appealed to the public to study carefully the impeachment proceedings.

Palace: Corona's 'conspiracy theory' a diversionary tactic (www.gmanews.tv)

" Malacañang on Monday said impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona has no one else to blame but himself for the plight he is facing, and dismissed his accusation of conspiracy as a diversionary tactic.

In a press statement, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Corona's "conspiracy theory ignores reality and plain facts." He was referring to Corona's accusation that three personalities are out to oust him as chief justice.

Corona made the accusation in a speech delivered before his supporters at the Supreme Court on Monday morning. He did not identify those he alleged to be plotting to remove him from office, and gave only hints.

Sila pong tatlo ang nagsasabwatan upang mapatalsik ako sa pwesto," the embattled chief justice said."

Mar Roxas to Corona: Stop making up stories (abs-cbnNEWS.com)

"MANILA, Philippines - Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Mar Roxas responded to Chief Justice Renato Corona tirade against him, saying the head of the judiciary should stop creating fallacies that would veer the public's attention away from his impeachment trial.

"This trial is about the very serious offenses against our people for betrayal of public trust, ang pagtataksil sa bayan.
