Everyone is welcome to join a candle-lighting mass action to support
the peace talks (which will begin very soon) between the government
and two parties: the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Communist
Party of the Philippines.

The event called "Ilaw para sa Kapayapaan" will take place at the
Quezon Memorial Circle next Tuesday, February 8, at 6 p.m. The program
includes candle-lighting and inter-faith prayers. It is also P-Noy's
birthday on Tuesday, and President Aquino will ring the huge Peace
Bell which is found at the center of the Memorial Circle.

Various civil-society organizations will mobilize themselves. There
will also be delegations from government institutions like the Office
of the Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process and the Commission
on Human Rights. The PNP, AFP, and police will also join the event as
a show of support for the upcoming peace talks. Dr. Apple Oreta from
the Ateneo Political Science Department is one of the lead persons of
this project.

You are very welcome to come, and bring your family and friends. Jeeps
(thanks to OSCI) will transport participants to and from Ateneo.
Assembly will be in front of Leong Hall, between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00
p.m. We will depart at 5:05 p.m.
