The Department of Sociology and Anthropology wishes to announce its
summer programs for SY 2011 ? 2012:
THE ATENEO CULTURAL LABORATORY
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology will hold its annual
Ateneo Cultural Laboratory, in partnership with the Department of
History and the Fine Arts Program, on 25 April - 18 May at Manila's
former resort town -- San Juan del Monte. It will document the elegant
1900s - 1940s hillside villas; help write life stories of San Juan's
martyrs during the 1896 Revolution for the Museo ng Katipunan; record
the fashions and indigenous textiles of two of the Philippines? top
fashion-designers; explore the local intangible heritage (e.g. food
recipes, stories, and festivals); and fashion a tour script for San
Juan City together with expert consultants in tourism and marketing.
Dynamic Classrooms makes teachers discover how to make the classroom a lively
learning space, with students wired to the day?s lesson. Sessions include the
use of voice, body and mind to enhance self-confidence and glue student
attention; ways to draw student participation; the basics of great
storytelling; strategies to bond the whole class; internet resources for
teaching tips and class projects; pointers on class management, and
sources for student evaluation. All in just seven days! From May 19 to 26,
1:30 ?5 pm at SS Conference Rooms 1 and 2. Dr. Ricardo Abad, Metrobank
Outstanding Teacher, conducts the workshop.
Seminar / workshop fee: Php 10,000 (with a 50% percent discount for
teachers and academicians). The programs are also available for credit
/audit, worth 6 and 3 units, respectively.
