POWER: Rotating power outages are not likely in the first two weeks of
June. Just the same, back-up power generators are being prepared and
regularly checked to provide power when needed.

COMMUNICATION: Forty seven PLDT lines at the Loyola Heights campus were
migrated to NXGN or Next Generation Network last Saturday, 29 May. These
lines are now IP based and powered by high-speed DSL connection. The
telephone numbers have not been changed.

PLDT is still working out the migration of the remaining lines to NXGN
without having to change numbers. The shift to NXGN of the remaining lines
will be done in phases without disruption in services.

Internet: The Internet in the four campuses is being upgraded. According
to Mr. Patrick J. Medina, Manager of the Campus Network Group, upgrading
should be completed on or before 15 June.

Loyola Heights campus:

1.	Loyola Heights will have a 16% increase in capacity from 60 Mbps to
70 Mbps.

2.	Network backbone connections upgrading includes:

o	Faculty Housing: Fiber optic cabling will be installed between the
Faulty Housing and University Dormitory South Tower. WiFi will be provided
for the Faculty Housing.

o	Cervini Residence Hall: The existing fiber optic network backbone
will be upgraded. Cervini Residence Hall serves as the central Internet
distribution point of all the dormitories and this upgrade will increase
capacity and Internet reliability.

o	Science Education Complex (SEC): The existing fiber optic network
backbone of SEC A will be upgraded. SEC A serves as the central Internet
distribution point of all the SEC buildings and the upgrade will increase
capacity and reliability.

Ateneo Professional Schools at Rockwell (APS-Rockwell): PLDT will install
new fiber optic cables. Internet capacity will be increased by 100% from 4
Mbps to 8 Mbps.

Ateneo Professional Schools at Salcedo (APS-Salcedo): Digitel will install
a radio transceiver at APS-Salcedo that will increase the Internet capacity
by 100% from 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps.

Ateneo School of Medicine & Public Health (ASMPH): Digitel will also
install a radio transceiver at ASMP. This will increase the Internet
capacity by 100% from 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps.

TRAFFIC: The Loyola Heights campus will experience a gradual increase in
the number of vehicles on campus in the next two weeks. The gradual traffic
build-up will allow motorists time to adjust to the new traffic and parking
schemes. Large number of vehicles within a limited time overloads the
carrying capacity of campus roads and leads to traffic jams specially when
there are motorist not familiar with campus traffic flow. Below is the
schedule of activities in the next two weeks that will influence traffic on
campus:

Vehicular Accidents: Accidents along Katipunan Avenue most frequently occur
in the vicinity of the Gate 2.5 footbridge U-turn area. The community is
advised to take precaution when approaching the area even when not making a
U-turn. Two very recent accidents in the area are cited below:

6:12 a.m., Saturday, 29 May: A speeding northbound Honda City (without
license plate yet) from the flyover smashed into the concrete barriers at
the U-turn slot before the Gate 2.5 footbridge.  The impact was so strong;
several concrete barriers were pushed towards Gate 2 and sidewalk beyond
Gate 2. The driver and passenger suffered only minor injuries due to the
airbags in the car. The driver did not have a driver's license. Traffic
slowed down in the area till after the vehicle was towed away and the
concrete barriers were returned to where they should be.

5:05 a.m., Sunday, 30 May: A northbound motorcyclist with a back rider
decided to make an abrupt illegal U-turn before the Gate 2.5 U-turn. The
pick-up following the motorcycle could not avoid the motorcycle and hit it.
The motorcyclist and passengers were injured but refused to be taken to the
hospital for examination and treatment. All involved in the accident were
taken to the PNP station.

SECURITY: Three items were found and returned at the Loyola Heights campus
and one at APS-Salcedo:

1.	2:50 p.m., Tuesday 25 May: A bag (with wallet & cash) was found by
SG EMMANUEL S ARANO at the Dog House, Quad A. The owner claimed the found
items at the security office on the same day.
2.	5:30 p.m., Tuesday 25 May: iPhone found by SG PANFILO V PAGARAN on
the ground floor bench at Bellarmine Hall. The iPhone was claimed at the
security office by the owner on the same day.
3.	12:25 p.m., Wednesday, 26 May: MR. RAMITO A. MANTUBIG, driver of
Green Tricycle 028 found a laptop inside the passenger cab of his tricycle.
Not knowing the owner, he turned the laptop over to the security office.
The laptop was turned over to LS ADSA office on the same day.

At APS-Salcedo, SG AIREL C BANCAIREN found a wallet with cash, credit and
ATM cards at 7:20 p.m. last Saturday evening, 23 May at the Center for
Continuing Education (CCE) area on the 3rd floor. The owner claimed the
found items from security in the morning of the following day.

The community is cautioned to be wary of snatchers and thieves on campus and
along Katipunan. Measures have been taken in cooperation with Barangay
Loyola Heights and the PNP to prevent snatching, hold-ups and robberies
along Katipunan. Security measures have also been taken on campus.
However, the best counter measure is for everybody to be vigilant in the
care of their personal belongings.

MAINTENANCE: Associated with the onset of the rainy season are reports of
leaking roof. The rain last Friday, 28 May was not exceptionally heavy but
it caused roof leaks in one of the affiliated units. There is still time to
check and clean roof gutters, downspouts and strainers. Roof leaks can be
prevented with regular maintenance of gutters, downspouts and strainers
before the rainy season.
