The "Sublime"  is a key concept in the cultural history  of the West. 
Though universally significant, its importance has been most marked in the 
arts, rhetoric, esthetics, mysticism, and the human sciences.  Theorizing 
on what constitutes "Sublimeness" (Sublimidad) began with Plato and 
Longinus. From Kant down to our days, such theorizing has become part of 
modern culture.

On the Speaker: Professor at the Universidad de Alicante, Director of the 
Master's and Doctoral Program in "Humanistic Methodologies in the Digital 
Age", Author of books and essays on esthetics, on the epistemology of the 
human sciences, and on the history and theory of the essay. Has specialized 
in studies on the Sublime of which his book,  La sublimidad y lo Sublime, 
is a famous example.
