*Panibagong Paraan for Good Governance*

As part of its thrust towards promoting Good Governance in our country, the
World Bank in partnership with the Ateneo School of Government, Asian
Institute of Management-Center for Development Management and the Kaya
Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership will be holding a
Panibagong Paraan (PP) for Good Governance at the Asian Institute
ofManagement, Paseo de Roxas, Makati from November 4-6,2009.

Unlike previous PP events, this year’s PP will not include a grant
competition. Instead, it will be a knowledge sharing event that will bring
together some 25 local government leaders, 5 selected Panibagong Paraan past
winners, and 34 KDC network members. Still, it is called Panibagong Paraan
because the spirit of finding innovative ways to address governance issues,
especially at the local level, will continue to be encouraged throughout the
three-day event. The KDC is a knowledge sharing partnership between the
World Bank and 10 knowledge insitutions, state and private universities in
the country.

Panibagong Paraan for Good Governance aims to provide a venue for the
participants to undertake the following activities:

• Share and discuss best practices on good governance and ethical
leadership, particularly in promoting greater transparency and social
accountability at the local level.
• Present and discuss ways by which local government, civil society, and
knowledge institutions can explore opportunities for collaboration.
• Develop a work program for the KDCs in engaging with local government
officials on possible knowledge sharing initiatives in the community.
• Develop LGU action plans to put into practice the lessons in the event.

*Although this event is a by-invitation only affair, we are currently open
to leaders from different sectors of society (e.g., youth, academe,
business, non-profit, government, etc.) who may wish to become observers and
also participate in this event. As the number of participants are limited to
ensure the quality of discussions, we will only accept up to 20 observers
thus, for those who are interested, please send an email together with your
complete contact information and a brief narrative on why you would like to
participate in Panibagong Paraan 2009 to Kai Pastores of the Ateneo School
of Government. The email address is kai.pastores at gmail.com or you can
contact us at (02) 426-5657.

The Ateneo School of Government will collect a minimal fee of P 3,500.00 for
each observer to cover food and materials expenses to the event. Deadline
for signifying your intent to be part of Panibagong Paraan 2009 is on
October 28,2009.
