WATER: Water samples from all cisterns, overhead tanks and selected
drinking fountains of units at the Loyola Heights campus, Ateneo
Professional Schools-Rockwell, Ateneo Professional Schools-Salcedo and
Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) will be taken this week
for evaluation by the Microbiological Research and Services Laboratory of
the UP Natural Sciences Research Institute. Results of the evaluation will
be released next week.

TRAFFIC: A High School boy fell off a tricycle at 4:10 p.m. last Thursday,
15 Oct 2009 before Gate 2.5. The boy was immediately taken to HealthDev
where he was examined by Dr. Evelyn D. Sanchez and found to have incurred
only scratches on his right knee. The HS boy admitted that he was not
holding on to the tricycle when he fell. The tricycle driver was issued a
traffic violation ticket for the incident.

PARKING: This semester as in previous years, parking spaces close to
buildings and classrooms at the Loyola Schools remain tight. At the Grade
School, parking is tight only during dismissal time. The High School has no
comparable parking problem. The more serious problem is the number of cars
unlocked while parked.

SECURITY: At 7:45 a.m. last Friday, 16 October UPP personnel Mario C. Boco
and Antonio L. Vergano found a vintage World War II ordnance near the
"Smoket" area beside Alingal Hall. The ordnance must have surfaced after
the heavy rains of typhoon Ondoy two weeks ago. This was immediately
reported to the PNP Bomb Disposal Unit at Camp Crame.

Found & Returned:

Friday, 9 October: SG JOSEPH V BALAG (not in the picture) assigned at the
High School MST building found a cell phone at the lobby. The cell phone
was claimed by the owner, a High School sophomore only last Thursday, 15
October at the security office.

6:30 p.m., Thursday, 15 October: MR. ALVIO B. GARZON (in red shirt), driver
of White Tricycle 067 and resident of Park 7, Loyola Heights, Quezon City
turned over to the security office a cell phone he found in the passenger
car of his tricycle. Campus security traced the owner (shown in the picture
in pink shirt), a visitor of Manila Observatory. The owner came to the
security office and claimed his cell phone an hour and a half later and very
grateful to the honest tricycle driver.

6:40 p.m., Friday, 16 October: High School maintenance personnel Mr. ANDREW
C. ESQUERRA found an unattended laptop outside the Art Pavilion. He took
the laptop and endorsed it to SG DANDY A BALDESMO (shown in the picture).
The owner, a HS freshman student showed up shortly. The owner claimed that
he charged his laptop at 3:30 p.m. and went to the first year cluster night.
He came back three hours later to get his laptop. He promised not to leave
his laptop unattended again.

Lost and Not Recovered: A coed reported taking a tricycle at 12:40 p.m.
from campus to a condominium unit along Katipunan Avenue. She claimed that
it was only after she entered her unit that she realized she had left her
laptop in the tricycle. The coed could not remember the color nor body
number of the tricycle. Just the same, campus security checked all
tricycles on campus and contacted the presidents of both Green and White
TODA to find out if any tricycle driver recovered the laptop. As of this
writing, the laptop has not been returned.

The community is again cautioned to be careful as theft and crimes increase
traditionally towards December.
