the high tension cables was detached. UPP electricians are shown checking
the cut-out fuse before reconnecting it.
San Jose Seminary reported a leak in the waterline yesterday. This could
not be acted on yesterday (Sunday) and the gate valve was closed. UPP
plumbers repaired the leak early this morning and restored water supply to
San Jose Seminary.
TRAFFIC: Since the opening of the U-turn south of the Gate 2.5 footbridge,
Gate 3 has become the most preferred gate from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. The number
of vehicles entering the campus at Gate 1, Gate 2 and Gate 3 was being
counted by UPP personnel from 5:30 to 8:00 a.m. since last week.
Gate 1 was closed since Wednesday to Friday (on Wednesday & Thursday due to
bad weather and on Friday because the Grade School had no classes).
If the trend continues, approximately 5,000+ vehicles enter the campus from
5:30 to 8:00 a.m. from Monday to Friday. Gate 3 is the preferred gate
followed by Gate 1. Gate 2 is not as accessible due to the volume of
vehicles entering Gate 1.

Those who wish to avoid the morning traffic are encouraged to come before or
after the morning rush period.
Tuesday, 23 June downpour:
Heavy rain last Tuesday afternoon, 23 June from 2:50 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.
flooded sections of Katipunan Avenue and slowed down traffic on the
northbound lane. Flood water under the Gate 2.5 footbridge along Katipunan
drained after 20 minutes.
On campus on the same day, strong winds and heavy downpour uprooted some
trees and broke branches near the Blue Eagle Gym, at the High School Covered
Courts, Cervini Residence Hall and the old Communications Arts Department
Those that blocked roads were immediately cleared by UPP personnel with the
assistance of personnel of JSA, the ground maintenance contractor.
Vehicular Accidents: For the month of June (as of today), there have been
11 minor vehicular accidents on campus and 5 reported accidents along
Katipunan Avenue. The most recent were:
Saturday, 27 Jun: A speeding northbound motorcyclist lost control of his
motorcycle at the foot of the flyover and smashed into the concrete
railings. Barangay Loyola Heights Emergency Rescue came to assist the
victim and brought him to the hospital.
Sunday, 28 Jun: A High School parent about to attend the freshmen parent
orientation at the High School was hit by a speeding southbound boom truck
at the Gate 2.5 U-turn. She was slightly injured and was rushed to the
Qurino Memorial Medical Center. She only suffered a minor head cut but her
car was badly damaged at the rear.
Planned relocation of U-turn: To improve traffic flow on Katipunan, MMDA
will relocate the U-turn in front of Miriam College's Gate 1 closer to the
footbridge (specifically in front of Metro Bank) shown in the map below:
MMDA personnel shown in the first three pictures breaking and clearing the
island. Next three pictures show the same area with concrete.

last day for issuance of the 2009-2010 gate pass stickers without the P1,000
