Pls post:

As part of the commitment of the Ateneo de Manila University and
British Council Philippines to the Filipino English teacher, the
Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT) now hosts the
British Council Teachers Club national chapter and houses English
Language Teaching (ELT) materials at the ACELT office, Ground Floor,
de la Costa Hall in the Loyola Schools.

On 5 June 2009, the ACELT-Teachers Club Resource/Reading Corner will
be formally launched with the signing of the Letter of Agreement and
presentation of a deed of donation to ACELT.  Signatories to the
agreement are British Council Philippines Director Andrew Picken, and
Dean Maria Luz C. Vilches of the Ateneo School of Humanities, under
which ACELT operates. This agreement cements a partnership between the
Ateneo and the British Council as ACELT now hosts the national chapter
of the Teachers Club. The Visayas chapter of the Teachers Club is
hosted by the University of San Carlos, while the Mindanao chapter is
at St. Mary?s Academy, Cagayan de Oro City.

British Council Philippines established the Teachers Club to provide a
venue for English language teachers to learn and share their expertise
and skills with other teachers, and facilitate discussions of issues
and concerns in the English language teaching (ELT) profession.  It
also provides its members with access to the latest resources in
English language teaching through books, journals and online resources
which will now be housed at the ACELT office.
The Club is open to all English language teachers in the Philippines
who pay an annual membership fee. Among the membership benefits are:

Access to a collection of ELT books in the ACELT office at the Ateneo
Loyola Schools, and chapter offices in Cebu and CDO.

-Free participation in Teachers Club  ELT workshops
-Up to 20% discount in British Council paid workshops and conferences.
-Virtual discussion with members
-Video conference with teachers from other regions in the Philippines
and around the world
-Participation in regional fora
-Membership to ELTeCS

ACELT is the outreach teacher training arm of the SOH Department of
English, founded 28 years ago by Fr. Joseph A. Galdon, S.J. and Dr.
Edna Z. Manlapaz.  It organizes and runs ELT seminars, workshops, and
bi-annual conferences, publishes the ACELT Forum, and accepts
consultancies for curriculum review and development.  As a
teacher-training institution, ACELT  has made a name for itself as a
center that promotes teacher development and principled English
language and literature instruction for nation building.  In
partnering with the British Council, ACELT strengthens its position in
benefiting the Filipino English teacher by widening its reach through
the Teachers Club.
