The CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE at the Ateneo de Manila University invites everyone to
participate in the upcoming FREE LECTURES - Learning Chinese Through Films and
Chinese Proverbs.

Learning Chinese Through Films
Prof. Zhang Shi-tao

Dates: February 21; March 7, 14, 21
Time: 1:30 – 3:30 pm
Venue: Salcedo, Makati campus, Room 401

Learn to recognize and use contemporary Chinese expressions and improve your
listening and speaking skills by watching films related to China’s
socio-political, economic, cultural, and historical events. Participants of this
4-part lecture will not only watch the film “If You Are the One”, but engage in
analytical discussions with the instructor to understand its context and the
language it uses.

Participants must have basic Chinese listening and speaking abilities.


Chinese Idioms
Dr. Xu Jian

Dates: February 28, March 14
Time: 1:30 – 2:30 pm
Venue: Loyola campus, ISO Room 1

Gain insight into Chinese wisdom and spice up your everyday Chinese
conversations by learning Chinese idioms (cheng yu). This interactive lecture
will introduce participants to the origins of these idioms through lively and
interesting stories.

Participants must have basic Chinese listening and speaking abilities.
