API Fellowships Program 

Closing of Application Period: 31 August 2009

 

Applications for The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public
Intellectuals (API Fellowships) for 2010-2011 will be accepted only until 31
August 2009. 

 

Applicants from the Philippines propose a research project, which may be
conducted in the other Participating Countries: Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia,
and Thailand. 

 

Project themes are: (1) Changing identities and their social, historical,
and cultural contexts; (2) Reflection on the human condition and the search
for social justice; and the (3) Current structure of globalization and
possible alternatives.

 

Accepted fellows are provided transportation, housing, stipend, insurance,
and research allowance (for computers, books, and other materials). 

 

The Program is open to social workers, NGO members, public servants,
academics, researchers, media professionals, artists, creative writers, and
others who work in the public sphere and wish to contribute creative ideas
for the improvement of society. In conducting their research, API fellows
are able to broaden their expertise and develop regional linkages.
