Call for Papers

Second Conference on Living the Information Society

Ateneo Professional Schools, Rockwell Center, Makati City

October 1-2, 2009






The Philippine ICT Research Network (Phil-ICT Net), in partnership  
with the National College of Public Administration and Governance  
(NCPAG) and the Center for Organizational Research and Development  
(CORD) is hosting the second Living the Information Society  
conference.  The conference will be held at the Amphitheater of the  
Ateneo Professioanl Schools, Rockwell Center, Makati City on October  
1-2, 2009.



The goal of the conference is to enable  the dissemination of latest  
research on how information and communication technologies are  
affecting Philippine society.   The event encourages multi- 
disciplinary participation and discussion in order to have a  
comprehensive understanding of the effects of ICT on culture and  
society.



Research Topics:



We invite papers on all aspects of modern and interactive digital  
technologies, including, but not restricted to mobile technologies,  
the Internet, blogging, social networking,  gaming, etc.  The papers  
can cover the technology’s impact on families, relationships,  
sexuality, work, identifies, culture, politics, the economy etc.

Tentative panels include:


·      Growing up digital (ICTs and the Youth)

·      Censorship and Surveillance

·      ICTs in the Workplace

·      The Darkside of technology (Addiction, Voyeurism and Piracy)

·      ICTs, politics and participation



Review criteria



Submissions will be evaluated by a review panel according to the  
following criteria:

  1. Clarity of formulation/conceptualization of the problem

  2. . Methodological rigor

3.    Importance and relevance of the topic




Submission guidelines



To submit a paper, kindly email a document containing (a) the title of  
the paper, (b) your name and contact information, (c) an abstract of  
the paper (max. 500 words, double spaced, 12-pt. font size) and a one- 
page curriculum vita to rortega at ateneo.edu on or before August 15,  
2009.  The abstract should contain the research problem, methodology  
and highlights of the results of the study.  All submissions should be  
sent to Ms. Renee Ortega



Conference paper presenters will be notified of acceptance by August  
30, 2009.  All presenters are expected to provide full papers to the  
conference secretariat on or before September 22, 2009.   Paper  
presenters will receive full subsidy from the Phil ICT Research  
Network for the conference.  Funding for travel and accommodations are  
also available to non-Metro Manila presenters.
