Assignment	: Science and Technology Innovations for the Base of the Pyramid in
                           Southeast Asia Project (IDRC)

Brief Description of the Projects

Science and Technology Innovations for the Base of the Pyramid (BOP)  
Southeast Asia
The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG) is implementing this three?year  
project with support from the International Development Research  
Centre (Canada). The goal of the project is to foster science and  
technology innovations that can effectively address the developmental  
needs of the poor and excluded in the region.

Scope of Work

The Graphics Designer will create and produce visual solutions to the  
communication needs and requirements of the Project. He/She will  
design the Project logo and create a branding for the Project that  
will be carried by various info-sharing and networking mediums (both  
print and online). He/She will also conceptualize and produce sample  
layouts for collateral materials (which includes, but are not limited  
to, posters, invitations, kit covers, etc.) and publications.

Specifically, he/she will have the following functions and responsibilities:
-	Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of  
layout principles and esthetic design concepts
-	Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of materials,  
present/discuss them with the Project Team, and make changes when  
-	Create a visual identity guide for the Project, determining the size  
and arrangement of any illustrative material and copy produced (logo,  
letterhead banner, etc.), and select/specify style and size of type
-	Develop graphics for the Project website (still and/or animated)
-	Use licensed computer software to generate new images.
-	Prepare notes and instructions and assemble final designs/layouts  
for printing
-	Review final designs/layouts and suggest improvements as needed
-	Assist in the production of visual presentations (i.e. video clip,  
photo gallery, etc.)
-	Perform other related tasks, as assigned


Possess a Fine Arts degree or any equivalent degree
? Have at least 1-2 years work experience as a graphics designer
? Be fluent in principles of successful Web design as they relate to  
page layout,
   typography, color, composition, and effective use of photos and  
? Be able to adhere to the School?s existing style and standards.
? Execute design projects with a high degree of polish.
? Be able to work on projects that scale from small (unstructured/fast  
turnaround) to large
   (more structured/longer turnaround).
? Have facility with design applications such as Photoshop,  
Illustrator and Flash
? Have excellent communication skills.
? Be able to meet project deadlines.
? Work well as part of a highly collaborative team, in person or virtually.
? Some illustration ability is a plus.
