4th QUARTER STATUS REPORT

POWER: Energy conservation measures have minimized the negative impact of
the increasing cost of electricity since school year 2004-2005.
Fire Prevention Month: March is Fire Prevention Month. Next to
carelessness, faulty electrical wiring and equipment have been identified as
the cause of fires in Metro Manila. The community is reminded to check
electric fans and air conditioning units for unusual operation that may
warrant repair. Leaving air con units and electric fans on all night and on
weekends have caused fires many times in the past.
WATER: The 4th quarter tests of contents of cisterns and overhead tanks
will be done this week. Results will be released next week.

To facilitate early processing of stickers for Ateneo and Affiliated units'
personnel, application forms for the 2008-2009 gate pass sticker may now be
1. Fill up the form and send it to Room 207 for processing.
1.1 If the gate pass sticker applied for is for the same vehicle issued
a sticker last year, there is no need to submit a photo copy of the OR
(Official Receipt) and CR (Certificate of Registration).
1.2 If the application is for another vehicle, you have to submit a
photo copy of the OR and CR.
2. Payment for gate pass stickers will start on 1 April. Bring the
processed application form with you when you pay the corresponding fee at
the Cashier's Window, Xavier Hall.
3. Return the application form with the payment receipt to Room 207 and
get your 2008-2009 gate pass sticker.
The cost of gate pass stickers has NOT increased since 2003. To cover the
increasing cost of improving and maintaining campus roads, carparks, traffic
and parking signs and traffic guards, the cost of the gate pass stickers
will be adjusted. Starting 1 April 2008 the cost of gate pass sticker will

The community is encouraged to get their gate pass stickers in April and May
to AVOID the June rush and the P1,000 surcharge after the 30 June deadline.
Traffic and parking violations are major causes of traffic gridlock and
accidents on campus. The updated traffic and parking violation penalties
may be downloaded as a Word file from
Violation_030308.doc. All are urged to observe traffic and parking rules
for the good of the community and AVOID paying the penalty.
The number of gate pass stickers issued at the Loyola Heights campus
increased by 3,000 since 2003-2004.
SECURITY: Losses on all campuses are due mainly to carelessness.
1. 3:00 p.m., Thursday 13 March: SG ANTONIO A PARNADA found a video
camera inside a bag in one of the rooms at PLDT-CTC & JGSOM complex.

3. 2:30 p.m., Friday 14 March: Video camera claimed by the owner at
the security office from SLG MARIVIC R PERDIGON a day after he lost it.
4. 8:50 p.m., Thursday 13 March: SG DANILO M ARCUENO found a bag at
the North carpark with a tire mark. The bag contained a calculator and a
laptop. The laptop was apparently left in the carpark and was run over and
damaged by a car.
5. 9:05 p.m., Thursday March: Owner claimed the damaged laptop at
security office from SSG REYNALDO S RAMIREZ.
6. 11:50 a.m., Friday, 14 March: SSG SEVERINO B BULACAN found a
laptop at the SEC foyer and turned it over to the security office.
7. 2:20 p.m., Friday, 14 March: The owner claimed the laptop at the
security office from SLG MARIVIC R PERDIGON later in the day.

The Leopard Security & Investigation Agency (LSIA) has replaced its old
Toyota FX service vehicle with a newer Isuzu diesel pickup last week. The
LSIA service vehicle is the campus emergency vehicle that brings members of
the community with medical problems or victims of accidents to the hospital.
SG JOSEPH S BANHAO, assigned at the Loyola Schools complex met an accident
last Sunday, 9 March along C5 on his way home to Taguig. Two pedestrians
dashed across the street and one collided with his motorcycle. The
jaywalker suffered only minor bruises but SG Banhao suffered a broken jaw
and a cut on his right leg. He underwent surgery and a titanium brace was
used for his jaws. He was hospitalized for five days.
SG Banhao is a recipient of 5 commendations for apprehending a male "Salisi"
con man, for honesty in returning several wallets with cash and cell phones
he found in the college complex in 2006 and another 3 commendation in 2007
also for honesty in returning cash and cell phones (Nokia 6600 & N90). He
is also a recipient of the HEROES of SOSSWeek08:BalikBAYAN award in 2008.
His hospital expenses exceeded his medical benefits. Any assistance
extended to SG Banhao will be much appreciated. Please send your assistance

PARKING: Unlocked cars in carparks remain a problem.

2:30 p.m., Thursday 13 March: SG TEODORO S GEPULLA found a car key still in
the driver's door at the Central carpark. The car looked familiar as it was
the 2nd time the key was found attached to the driver's door in the same
carpark. Based on the record of security, the car has been found unlocked
six times this school year
A Narra tree with a rotten core along Seminary Drive was cut down by
University Physical Plant personnel last Saturday afternoon, 15 March. The
tree was dangerous to pedestrians and motorists passing the area.
