Political Development and Reform Project (PoDeR)

Position: Project Assistant

Brief Project Description and Objectives:

The Ateneo School of Government?s project on political development and  
reform or PoDeR [Spanish: Power] is a research and advocacy initiative  
that aims to reform politics and develop key political institutions in  
the country.  It has been initiated in recognition of the need for  
reforms and development in the country?s political system to  
facilitate and advance the process of democratic consolidation. The  
deepening and consolidation of democracy is critical for sustainable  
growth and development.

PoDeR centers on three critical political system reform issues,  
namely: constitutional change discourse, electoral and campaign reform  
and political party development.

Scope of Work

PoDeR?s Project Assistant will have the following functions and  

In general, provides administrative, coordinative and technical  
assistance to the PoDeR Project Director.

?	Assists the PoDeR Project Director in coordinating and communicating  
with the concerned ASoG officers, outsourced personnel, networks and  
formations, particularly in following-up outputs and expected tasks;
?	Arranges and documents meetings conducted;
?	Compiles and indexes pertinent records, documents and reference  
materials related to the project;
?	Assists in preparing communications, reports, updates and other  
technical papers for the project;
?	Tracks and updates the PoDeR Project Director on the financial, i.e.  
budget and expenditure, releases of project funds, etc.;
?	In charge of purchase and inventory of office supplies and materials;
?	Prepares contracts and ensures timely release of payments of all the  
personnel involved in PoDeR;
?	Assists in the logistical preparations for the events, namely:  
venue, board and lodging, kits and participants confirmation and  
?	Assists in linkaging with the broad stakeholders of the School?s  
political reform program, including possible funders;
?	Performs other related tasks to be delegated by the PoDeR Project Director.


PoDeR?s Project Assistant must have the following qualifications:

?	A graduate of political science, sociology, economics, philosophy or  
any related social science courses;
?	Capable of handling coordinative and administrative tasks  
systematically and with focus and due diligence;
?	Is competent in technical writing and basic information management;
?	Can easily interact, network and coordinate with people and  
political personalities coming from various political persuasions;
?	A work experience with similar job description is a plus;
?	Research and writing background or working experience is a plus;
?	Strong interest in politics and governance and strong passion for  
democratic ideals is a plus.
