The Apu Palamguwan Cultural Education Center (APC) was legally established
in 2004 and in the same year gained recognition from the Department of
Education as the first formal indigenous people-based education center. APC
is registered as a non-profit educational institution with the Securities
and Exchange Commission.


    * To provide basic cultural education that serves as the foundation for
the life-long learning of Lumad children and youth 

    * To guide the students through various learning experiences in the
context of their community life thus facilitating their holistic development
as individuals capable of managing the community's resources, sustaining
their livelihood, governing the community as an indigenous people, and
engaging with broader society. 



The School Manager (Principal)  is responsible for the maintenance of the
school's curriculum and in upholding the culture-based education system. The
job entails managing both the academic and administrative aspects of the
school. It requires developing community based programs to integrate local
cultural practices into the system. 



*	Report directly to the Program Manager.
*	Ensure proper implementation of the school's curriculum and the
integrity of the culture-based system of education
*	Ensure proper implementation of school's community programs and
*	Manage both the administrative and academic aspect of the school;
acts both as an instructional leader and administrative manager
*	Monitor teacher and student performance through a defined system of
monitoring and assessment
*	Conduct training and development needs analysis for school teachers
and recommends appropriate program to respond to these needs
*	Establish school and community linkage and encourage active
participation of parents, teachers and community members in the student's
learning process
*	Represent the school in meetings, conferences and other external
*	Write quarterly school reports regarding status of school projects,
students, and teachers' performance and areas for improvement
*	Ensure proper implementation of school expenses and dormer expenses
in relation to the budgeted amount and directly coordinate those with
Finance Manager
*	Ensure proper maintenance of the school's facilities,
infrastructures, and equipment in close coordination with Area Field
Development Officer and/or Program Manager 
*	Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Program Manager


*	Graduate of BS Elementary Education
*	Licensed Teacher
*	Has at least 3 years experience in teaching and classroom
*	Has experience in supervising and managing people in an educational
*	Willing to live in a community setting and learn a new language
*	Has a preference for working in marginal areas
*	Experience in community work preferred
*	Knowledge of culture-based education an advantage


*	Located in Bendum, close to Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
*	Salary commensurate with managing a school of its size (approx. 100
*	Accommodation and health care provided
