The Environmental Science for Social Change is a non-stock non-profit Jesuit
research institute undertaking national and scientific research work that
contributes to a better understanding and appropriate management of the
environment and natural resources for human development.  It works with
communities and local governments in the development, planning,
implementation, and monitoring of natural resource management plans.


The Chief of Staff is a senior management position and is responsible for
the line functions of Finance, Human Resources, Administration,
Communications, and Quality. The job requires directing and supervising the
daily activities of the Office of the Executive Director and leading the
integration of institutional activities with the Institutional Management
Group (IMG). The job also includes preparing for and coordinating inputs for
the regular meetings of the Board of Trustees, the IMG, and other
institutional meetings as required by the Executive Director. The job also
ensures that the Institute complies with all legal and regulatory


Main Responsibilities


1.	Provides support services of Finance, Human Resources,
Administration and Communications
2.	Provides leadership and integration of the IMG
3.	Directs, supervises, and controls the day-to-day activities of the
Office of Executive Director
4.	Provides technical support to the Executive Director, schedules
official appointments and engagements,
5.	Manages an efficient official communication system and records and
filing management 
6.	Reviews and manages the policies and procedures of the ESSC
management system
7.	Establishes and maintains close and working relationships with the
Board and other stakeholders and partners of the Institute through regular
8.	Performs other functions as the Executive Director may assign from
time to time.


Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities


1.       Graduate of Business Administration, Management or similar course

2.       At least 5 years experience in business management or related work,
preferably in a development context or from the corporate sector that
covered similar areas

3.       Has experience in supervising and managing people

4.       Ideally with extensive experience of Finance and/or HR

5.       Can write and speak English well

6.       Can work proactively, is a self-starter and can work well under

7.       Has an assertiveness that is balanced with diplomacy and tact

8.       Efficient, punctual, organized, and systematic in maintaining files
and correspondence

9.       Based in Quezon City, flexible and mobile to move around and work
late at short notice

10.   Can easily engage with the private sector and government agencies
