Dealing with Death
November is marked as a time to honor and remember loved ones who have
passed away. It is never easy for the bereaved to forget the love and
warm memories of their dearly departed. And the process of healing is
even more excruciating. This Light Talk episode discusses the Filipino's
attitudes towards death, and the coping processes of the bereaved.
Included in this episode is a segment on Mr. Dolan Torres, father of
Ursolo Torres, Jr. who was one of the Marines slain in Tipo-Tipo,
Basilan last July.
Joining Bishop Chito Tagle are studio guests Ms. Chiqui Roa-Puno
(daughter of Pete and Boots Anson-Roa) who lost her dad recently to
stomach cancer; Ms. Noemi Dado (whose son Luijoe, aged 6, drowned in a
family outing), founding member of The Compassionate Friends
Philippines, an international non-profit, self-help support organization
offering friendship and understanding to families grieving the untimely
death of a child; Ms. Baby Blanco who lost three children and is now a
widow; and Dr. Maria Lourdes Llaneza Ramos, clinical psychologist and
associate professor at the Ateneo de Manila University.
