Our public school teachers are truly today's unsung heroes. For one, they
are able to teach and form their students amidst problems such as
increasing student population, classroom shortage, textbook shortage, low
performing students, consequences of poverty and so on. Like all other
teachers, they assume a variety of roles---student and family guidance
councilor, administrator, election officials etc. There are a lot of
burdens on their shoulders sometimes making it difficult for them to keep
in touch with their mission and calling.
In this light, the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) family
under the guidance of the University president is organizing an event that
aims to rekindle in our public school teachers the passion and love for
teaching the young. "Manumbalik MULI: Misyon, Ugat,Ligaya at Inspirasyon"
gathers 400+ teachers from eight partner public elementary schools
(Bagong Silangan Elementary School, Culiat Elementary School, Lupang
Pangako Elementary School, Nagkaisang Nayon Elementary School,Payatas B
Annex Elementary School, Payatas B Elementary School, Payatas C
Elementary School and Rosa Susano Elementary School).
This meaningful event desires to help teacher-participants in tracing back
wonderful memories of touching lives. This truly is our gift to the
country's second parents.Teacher-participants would have the chance to
listen to inspiring words from Dr. Onofre Pagsanghan and Fr. Bienvenido
Nebres S.J---who themselves have dedicated their lives to the education
of young Filipinos.
The event will be held on November 17, 2007, Saturday, (8:00am-5:00pm) at
the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall Auditorium.
