This special ArtSpeak lecture has been especially conceived by Mariano
Akerman for the Embassy of Sweden in Manila in celebration of the
Linnaeus Tercentenary in the Philippines. It forms part of a series of
lectures delivered in leading educational institutions in the Philippines
that show the renowned Swedish biologist's contribution to systematic
research.

Situated at the intersection of science and art, the lecture also
coincides with the exhibition "Flora: Beauty, Desire and Death," curated
by Fr. Rene Javellana, SJ, Director of the Fine Arts Program, The Loyola
Schools, Ateneo de Manila University, which honors the memory of the
Jesuit botanist Bro. Josef Kamel, SJ, after whom Linnaeus named the
camellia.

Admission is free and open to the public. To book a seat or to receive
further information about this ArtSpeak lecture, please contact Joel de
Leon at +632 426 6001, ext 4160.
