The Loyola Schools Scholarly Work with Most Social Impact
I am happy to announce the opening of the Loyola Schools Outstanding
Scholarly Work Awards and the Loyola Schools Scholarly Work Publications
Awards for SY 2006-2007. In addition, a new award will be instituted this
school year: the Scholarly Work with Most Social Impact. These awards give
recognition to the scholarly work of full-time faculty members of the
Loyola Schools. All full-time faculty members of the Loyola Schools are
invited to apply for the awards by submitting their research or creative
works published in the period between November 1, 2005 and October 31,
Please note the submission guidelines attached to the hard copy of the
memo which was distributed to all faculty. The guidelines may also be
accessed at the faculty research site:
The Outstanding Scholarly Work Award is a special recognition to work of
such quality that contributes significantly to the discipline, is novel
or innovative, and/or meets high standards of excellence, e.g., an
article in an ISI journal or a book published by a reputable publishing
institution. The award is given to the most outstanding scholarly work in
the Humanities, Science and Engineering, Social Sciences, and Management.
The author, a colleague, or the Dean may nominate a published work using
the attached forms. The awardee will be chosen by a panel of judges
formed by the Dean of each school.
The Award for Scholarly Work with Most Social Impact recognizes sound
scholarly work that makes or has the potential to make a distinct
difference in addressing socio-civic and national development concerns.
This year, one scholarly work will be selected from among the
representative works from each of the four schools. Each schools panel
of judges will choose the schools representative from nominated works.
The final awards shall be deliberated upon by the Loyola Schools Grants
and Awards Committee composed of the President, Academic Vice President,
the Vice President, and the Deans of the Loyola Schools. Each Outstanding
Scholarly Work Award and the Scholarly Work with Most Social Impact is
accompanied by a plaque and a cash prize of P50,000 net of taxes (to be
shared with co-authors for co-authored work; co-authors who are not
Loyola Schools faculty members are not eligible for the awards). These
will be given on February 16, 2006.
The deadline for application for the awards is 12 noon of January 13,
2007. Please submit the application and nomination forms to the Office of
the Vice President for the Loyola Schools, care of Ms. Marla Andrada.
