We invite the full-time faculty to participate in a seminar-workshop on
Writing Research Grant Proposals on September 14, Friday, 430-6 pm, at
the Blue Bag Cafe (Gonzaga Function Room A). A second, follow-up session
is scheduled on October 5, Friday, 430-6 pm.

The specific objective of the seminar is to help prepare those faculty who
intend to submit proposals to the URC/LS Scholarly Work Faculty Grant.
More generally, the seminar is also a means to support faculty who are
actively engaged in research and are seeking to hone their skills in
writing.

The format of the seminar-workshop is two-pronged:
1) At the initial session on Sep 14, the resource person would provide
input on how to prepare competitive, scholarly research proposals for
funding. She would share her own experiences and insights, as well as
answer questions from the participants. The assumption in this initial
session is that the participants have done some preliminary work on their
proposals.
2) A second session will be scheduled three weeks later on Oct 5, where
the participants from the first session would be bringing with them their
initial drafts (the resource person would be giving them "homework" and
pointers after the first session) for discussion and feedback with the
resource person and other participants. The format of this session will
be more workshop-like.

The resource person is Dr. Cristina Montiel of the Ateneo Psychology
Department. Dr. Montiel has extensive experience in writing successful
grant proposals, and her research has been funded by both local and
international agencies. She is also well-published in local and ISI
journals, and has recently received the CHED Republika Zonal Award for
Most Outstanding Social Science Research. Dr. Montiel is also one of the
most well-respected research professors in the Psychology Department.

Please RSVP to Ms. Marla Andrada of the LSVP's office at local 5004, or at
mcandrada at ateneo.edu
