The Institute on Church and Social Issues (ICSI) is pleased to invite you to
view its exhibit and attend a forum on “CLIMATE CHANGE, SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT and the CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM” to be held on the 23rd of
November 2006, at Conference Room 5 & 6, 2nd floor of the Walter Hogan
Conference Center, ISO Complex, SDC, Ateneo de Manila Campus, Loyola Heights,
Quezon City. The exhibit will run from 9:00am until 5:00pm while the forum
will start at 1:00pm and end at 5:00pm.

ICSI is an organization and community of professional researchers and
advocates committed to faith that does justice, working in solidarity with the
Church and responsive to the needs of the poor. ICSI undertakes professional
research and produces publications for systematic advocacy regarding issues
that affect the poor. ICSI currently concentrates on four major research
areas /programs, one of which is the Environmental Economics Program (EEP).

EEP aims to use the tools of economics to understand and help address the
environmental problems that are facing us today, particularly those that are
associated with the global problem that is climate change. For the past four
years, the EEP has been engaged in research and advocacy efforts on solutions
which reduce the risks climate change presents. Specifically, EEP is involved
in the CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol to the United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The Kyoto Protocol stresses the importance of reducing anthropogenic
greenhouse gas emissions which significantly contribute to the hastening of
climate change. The CDM is a market-based mechanism that aims to help
industrialized countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to promote
the sustainable development goals of developing countries through
collaborative efforts.

See this exciting concept unfold in real life through the presentations in the
forum and in the exhibit! Take the opportunity to learn how businesses and
markets can work towards preserving the environment and helping the poor
through the opportunities offered by the CDM!

Participation in the exhibit and forum is free of charge, however confirmation
is required. You may reach the EEP Team for confirmation at the following:
